FOR THE LOVERS AND THE FIGHTERS (THE PROTO-STRUCTure)

I’ve been reflecting lately, trying to step outside my own perspective — which is harder than it sounds. As artists, we live inside our own sound, our own instincts, our own patterns. Seeing yourself from the outside is almost impossible, but that’s exactly what sparked this thought.
Before there was Greg Soma, there was Revol. Revol was my first real concept — my first attempt at building a sonic identity. Back then, I was obsessed with one question: What makes me unique?
It’s funny because today that question feels even more relevant. Everyone wants to stand out, yet so many chase the same familiar sound. It’s not a judgment — it’s just the comfort of what we already know. But I wasn’t looking for comfort. I was searching for a signature.
When I compare the Revol era with the Soma era, the differences are obvious. The textures, the moods, the worlds they live in — they’re distinct. But if you listen closely, there’s a thread connecting them. A pulse that never left..
I can trace it back to one track: “For the Lovers and the Fighters.”
That percussive break — that samba‑tech loop that cuts the rhythm in half — was the first time I heard something that felt like mine. And what’s wild is how that same essence shows up later in completely different tracks like “Plucked Soul” or “Broken Stellar.” Three different concepts, three different energies, yet the same DNA running underneath.
That’s when I realized something important:
Revol and Soma aren’t separate identities. They’re chapters of the same story.
The sound I was searching for back then was already there. I just didn’t know how to name it yet. But the essence — the groove, the tension, that essential pulse of energy — has always been part of me.
And maybe that’s the real journey: Not reinventing yourself, but recognizing the patterns that were always waiting to be understood.
